Suicide Prevention
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide looks different to everyone. Suicide may affect anyone; regardless of gender, race, or socioeconomic status. Yet, there are groups that have a higher rate of dying by suicide. According to the CDC, “Veterans, people who live in rural areas, sexual and gender minorities, middle-aged adults, and tribal populations may disproportionately experience factors linked to suicide”. Studies show that women have a higher rate of attempted suicide, but men have a higher rate of dying by suicide. According to the Department of Health, suicide is the second leading cause of death in RI (ages: 15-34). Clear Space would like you to know, that we are ALWAYS a call/text/email away.
